    Biography

    Dr Alice Muhayimana, PhD, MScN, BSN, is a registered nurse-midwife, Lecturer, and researcher at the University of Rwanda's School of Nursing and Midwifery. She has more than 16 years of experience in health-professions education, maternal and neonatal health, research, mentorship, and community engagement. She holds a PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand, where her research focused on developing strategies to sustain respectful maternity care for women during labour, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing specialising in maternal and neonatal health from Moi University. Dr Muhayimana's research interests include respectful maternity care, maternal and newborn health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, nursing and midwifery education, and implementation research. She contributes to international and local partnerships at her school and leads the neonatal nursing track within the master's programme. She has led and collaborated on national and international research projects, supervised postgraduate students, and contributed to more than 20 scientific publications. At RDCH, she leads maternal and neonatal health research, implementation studies, and professional capacity-development initiatives.
